#39 closed enhancement (fixed)

Browse by file system structure

Description

The 'Artists / Albums' view is nifty, but for those who have tracks whose directory structure may not match up with the tags (for keeping compilations containing various artists together, etc.), things get a bit screwy. Browsing simply by the file system structure would alleviate this. Should be easy to implement.

Actually... This is a bit harder than it might seem since all the tag-reading is abstracted away in the database sources. Even though it's possible, it's not really within the scope of MethLab. I'll mark it 'wishlist', and I'll look into it once I have some spare time.

This can probably be done by using the information that's stored in the 'dirs' table and exposing the dir_id field in the search view.

The 'dirs' table could be shown as a hierarchical directory and the resulting query would look like @dir_id = n (where n is the OID of the selected directory).

This would make sense for the filesystem database source but I don't know if it'll work properly for the MPD database source.
